Br1

Limited Edition

While this distillery reopened under new ownership in 2000, the opening shot of the Br series looks back to its previous incarnation. Bottled from a small batch of casks from a single vintage, it is an unashamedly old-fashioned whisky, packed with fruit and a youthful character despite its age.

Tasting notes

  • Nose

Fresh and fruity, with sweet barley, brown sugar and summer pudding. Fruit builds, with redcurrants, raspberries damsons and plums. Water adds leafy green notes and a hint of sea salt.
  • Palate

Sweet and savoury crash into each other, with barley sugar, creosote, treacle toffee and freshly kneaded rye dough all making themselves known. A drop of water brings out sweetness and a tingle of freshly ground black pepper.
  • Finish

Hot and spicy to start, with fruit and soft smoke rolling in behind.

Br1 Reviews

  • Fresh, youthful and headstrong, this packs a punch at full strength, but becomes very approachable with the addition of a few drops of water.
