While the distillery is known for its intensely peaty whisky, with age its spirit can display the character of its closed sibling in the south of the island. Cl2 aimed to capture some of the old-fashioned waxiness that distillery is known for, as well as the intensity of a modern Cl.

Tasting notes

  • Nose

    Rich honey and honeycomb to start – sweet, waxy and softly floral – with medicinal notes behind. Smoke and herbal notes build, revealing camphor and singed mint.

  • Palate

    Initially very sweet, with sugared almonds and milk chocolate. Balancing spice quickly develops, with freshly cracked black pepper, pungent peat smoke and rich damp earth notes. Water smoothes things out, bringing out more ashy smoke.

  • Finish

    Long and very smoky, fading to sweet honey.
