While this distillery is now known for its younger whiskies, the spirit produced before its 1995 closure shows a very different style of spirit. Unpeated and aged for more than two decades, the spirit character shines through – a perfect example of whisky from the distillery.

Tasting notes

  • Nose

    Sweet summer fruit, honeysuckle, grassy meadows, barley sugar and a core of rich malt.
  • Palate

    The flavours from the nose continue on the palate, with more fruit appearing with a drop of water. Caramel sweetness builds, tempered by a sprinkling of freshly cracked black pepper.
  • Finish

    Floral honey fades to spice and pepper.
