Islay single malt scotch whisky
Matured for nigh-on two decades, this is a fruit-dominant Bw bottling from a pair of ex-bourbon hogsheads. Perhaps the best Bw so far…
Core FlavourCitrus fruit, subtle smoke
Cask detailsFive refill hogsheads, two from 1995 and three from 1996.
NoseEqually balanced between fresh lemon and orange notes and smoke. There is some smoked-fish aromas, too, along with savoury olive tapenade and pineapple.
PalateLime zest and citrus fruits merging with light peat smoke and more tropical fruit. Strong emphasis on the fruit with this dram.
FinishThe fruit outweighs the smoke, with a dry note right at the death.
Lemon candy, tinned pineapples and faint tangerine. Sweet and fruity Bowmore.
Tropical fruits galore are the backbone of this whisky. This is excellent, if only the bottles were bigger…
