Islay single malt scotch whisky

As whisky from this distillery gets older, the smoky notes mellow and a core of fruitiness is revealed. In Lg5 we focused on the fruit, but without losing the peat and smoke. The result is an ashy and tarry dram with a core of orchard fruitiness.

Tasting notes

  • Nose

Tarred ropes and coal ash sit up front, but with some time in the glass, fruitier notes appear – crisp and poached pears, rhubarb and sweet apple.
  • Palate

Oily in texture, with noticeable heat. The smoky notes are powerful, but a drop of water rolls them back to reveal a core of fruity pears and flamed orange zest.
  • Finish

Long, with dry smoke and spiced pears fading to menthol.
