Islay single malt scotch whisky
A marriage of a trio of ex-bourbon barrels, Lp5 is a big-hearted dram that balances weighty smoke and ripe fruit. One of the richer Lp bottlings in the range.
Core FlavourSweet peat and smoke
Cask detailsThree first-fill bourbon barrels from the late 1990s.
NoseFreshly charred wood and a background of sea air. Sweet spice and carbolic style smoke suggest those traditional medicinal notes.
PalateA flavour of vanilla pods cooked in butter is set off against ripe citrus and pink peppercorns. The peat smoke is subtle and earthy.
FinishClementine and vanilla fall away to leave herb-infused background smoke.
- Pink peppercorns
- Carbolic soap
A finely integrated peat monster.
A refreshing young bourbon-matured dram. Needs water to get smoother.
Dry smoky tar, dry oak and coal dust with croissant pastry. Still raspingly smoky and dry with a splash of water, but delightfully so.
