Islay single malt scotch whisky
Known the world over as the marmite of Scotch whisky, the incredible, medicinal notes and seaside feel have always set this malt apart. From fresh bourbon barrels, the medicinal smoke is balanced with sweetness in this most recent addition.
Core FlavourSweet fruit and ash
Cask detailsDistillate from 1998 matured in four first-fill bourbon barrels
NoseReally gentle, delicate and fresh, with wood smoke, freshly cut peat and After Eight mints. Spice develops with time in the glass.
PalateThe whisky comes alive. A strong scent of lavender is turned by the salty Islay wind, bringing out notes of smoked salmon and sweet whisky sauce with smoky vanilla. Salted caramel and vanilla sponge-cake flavours follow, along with the distillery’s classic character: iodine and minerality.
FinishSweet and salty caramel bonbons with pungent but clean medicinal and menthol notes.
Probably the best Laphroaig I've had all year. Highly recommended.
