Malt Whisky Distillation in Scotland

Despite the myriad of styles and flavours found in Scotch whisky, it is made with just three ingredients: barley, yeast and water. In its shortest form, whisky making is simple: barley is malted, crushed, made into a simple beer and boiled, before spending many years in an oak barrel to mature.

However, as you would expect from a process that has been dissected and examined in great detail over the past few hundred years, there is a lot more to it than that.
